Wayne DeMilia leaves IFBB

« Florida Pro Xtreme Challenge | MuscleMemory | Pro Division »

Lots of rumors about Wayne DeMilia leaving the IFBB. Now he has his own website:
http://www.prodivision.net. whois shows the domain is registered to Ron Avidan of getbig.com, which I suspected from the style of html code. The domain was registered April 21.

The website states

Pro Division, Inc. is not affiliated with any Bodybuilding Federation. It is made up of registered athletes, promoters, judges and officials. Pro Division contests will go on as scheduled. Please check this website for updates.

It then lists the following contests:

Under contest results, it lists the Florida Pro Extreme and the Pittsburgh Pro Fitness, which were held this past weekend.

So will what’s left of the IFBB bar from the Olympia anyone who enters DeMilia’s contests? Do I have to create a whole new set of contest records in my database?

If the IFBB and DeMilia worked against each other by banning contestants from entering each others competitions, they might as well close the door on professional bodybuilding. It would kill certain events because you wouldn’t see certain competitors on a particular circuit. You’d have titles that wouldn’t pit the best against the best. It’s like boxing having so many champions in the same weight class but from different federations. Where do you go from there? Having one all-encompassing event that has the champions of different federations squaring off for a true title? (What do you call it? The NOC? Mr. O? See, it’s sounding ridiculous already).

I know it’s a bad comparison, but it’s kind of like pro wrestling when you had two companies competing for the same top-end talent. What happened? The guy with the deeper pocket bought out the smaller one.

I’d hope that’s not the direction things are heading. I’m all for expanding things, but hopefully there won’t be a banning from competition. (Wonder if that would run into legal issues of preventing an athlete from earning a living at his/her true potential?)

What about people who already booked to go to las vegas for the copetition in october. the webs say there is Mr. Olympia but try to find tickets or where. We have already booked and are out the money if there is no show. What do we do we were only going out for the weekend to attend the show. There should be something for us to attend regarding body building if not Mr. Olympia!!! Please email me if any one knows of anything coming in its place Oct.28 thru Oct.31. Thanks!!!! Stacey

Since Rimini, Italy we have attended every Mr. O competition paying top dollar and getting front row seats. The contempt for us started 2 or 3 years ago when a row of chairs was shoved in front of us an a foul mouthed professional wrestler and his gal plus one of the elderly Weiders sat in front of us. When I ask Mr. H. or whatever he was called to sit as he was blocking us, his vitriolic reaction and encredibly foul language was unprecedented and totally unnecessary - complaints to all the Weiders remain unacknowledged to this date. Wayne S. Demilia was the only one who seemed truly disturbed at this incident. Good luck to him if he moves on to better things.

It would be unfortunate if the Mr. O fails but at $600.00 for a front row seat + 3 or 4 nights at the Mandelay Bay Resort, its not an inexpensive weekend altho’ a most enjoyable one.
